The Becher Bay occurrence is located in the valley between Becher Bay and Anderson Cove.
The valley marks the contact of the Sooke Gabbro on the west with basalt of the Eocene Metchosin Volcanics on the east.
Locally, a strong north west trending shear cuts augite gabbro of the Eocene Sooke Gabbro. A 30- metre shaft at the head of Becher Bay in Metchosin basalt reveals patches and veinlets of chalcopyrite, associated veinlets of quartz and vein-like masses of epidote. Other occurrences of pyrrhotite with minor chalcopyrite are noted in the valley.
In 1951, programs of geological mapping and ground geophysical surveys were completed on the area as the June, Lorna, Moffat and Pac claims.
